LESSONS
Why are Hubmasters asked to learn about privacy and security?
This training module is one part of InspireHUB’s Cyber Hygiene practices. Cyber Hygiene involves the various practices taken by organizations to help them with their overall security health. As Benjamin Franklin so aptly stated “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” This principle definitely applies to cyber security and to ensuring those within the InspireHUB ecosystem receive regular training.
Basically, the savvier and stronger we all become around Cyber Security the better it is for everyone!
Our Hubmasters are on the front lines of serving small to mid-size organizations.
According to the National Cyber Security Alliance, 60% of small businesses close within six months of a cyber-attack as they cannot afford the costs in the aftermath. According to the Ponemon Institute, it costs the average small business $690,000 to recover from a cyber-attack and the cost is more for mid-size and large companies.
We ask Hubmasters to complete privacy and security training because the #1 risk to any technology platform is the humans who use them. Knowledge creates strength.
What is InspireHUB’s commitment to privacy and security?
Every company handles their own compliance. At InspireHUB, we have core values that shape how we make decisions. Among them are integrity and a commitment to privacy and security. We achieved CIS Benchmark compliance in 2020.
If InspireHUB is CIS Benchmark compliant, does that mean our organization now is?
No. The Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks are a set of best-practice standards to be applied against several systems and products within your organization. InspireHUB worked with third-party consultants to implement these standards and continues to apply them within our company.
Understanding cyber security in your region.
Every country, state and province has differing levels of legislation for compliance, and also Breach Response Protocols. InspireHUB adheres to these best-practices as it pertains to our platform.
Hubmasters (and their customers) manage their own processes. For example, if you download customer data and upload it into a file that is breached on a server you own, then you will have to follow the reporting methods for the area in which you reside.
It’s not a matter of “if” but “WHEN” will you experience an attack?
Cyber Security experts such as Cyber.sc regularly explain that it’s not long before you experience some sort of “cyber storm”. Having your processes in place and complete means that WHEN that storm does arrive you will be able to not only know what the steps are but also reduce your stress.
SUMMARY
